Duke's Grayson Allen appears to taunt Michigan State after big dunk
INDIANAPOLIS — How bad did things get for for Michigan State in its 81-61 loss on Saturday night?

So bad that Duke's eighth man in a eight-man rotation threw down a huge dunk before the crowd at Lucas Oil Stadium. Freshman guard Grayson Allen gave the Blue Devils a 19-point lead after grabbing a rebound and slamming home an uncontested basket in the second half.
After landing, Allen took a few steps toward Spartans guard Travis Trice in an aggressive manner. It sure looked like taunting, but the ref's ensuing whistle wasn't for a technical foul but to retrieve the ball after it had dribbled out of bounds.

Our view: At best, Allen was doing some lame mean mugging toward his own bench after being caught up in the moment and Trice just happened to be there. At worst, he was taunting Trice though the absence of a technical suggests the referee didn't hear any verbal taunting.
That Allen threw down a big dunk wasn't a surprise in itself. He won last year's McDonald's All-American Slam Dunk contest with a few jaw-dropping slams (below). Where it hurt for the Spartans was that it came uncontested and from a player who averaged less than nine minutes a game in his first season.
Allen finished Saturday's game with nine points and five rebounds over 17 minutes of play.
